SPRING 2020
DIMENSIONS: 7" X 7"

I blended the pond background directly on the paper rather than mixing on a palette. Using a white marker, I highlighted certain sections of the water and the koi. I attempted to paint the shadow of the koi to give the piece dimensions.

SUMMER 2020

For this piece, I attempted to replicate a sticker outline of my drawing. By using different brushes and texture, I was able to fully color this piece while giving it dimensions.

WINTER 2020
DIMENSIONS: 7 1/2" x 7 1/2"

Turned in for an assignment. I was inspired by the traditional Japanese story of Sadako and the thousand paper cranes. I wanted to also incorporate traditional floral print.

III. spine

AUTUMN 2019
DIMENSIONS: 33 1/2" x 66 1/2"

Final part of the trilogy: Growth.
This piece visually focuses on the internal aspect of an individual growing. I substitute the human vein, arteries and spine for tree roots to emphasize the theme of growth. With the same color palette, I wanted to saturate the stain-glass like background by making the individual a light shade of grey.

II. strung

AUTUMN 2019
DIMENSIONS: 33 1/2" x 66 1/2"

Second part of the trilogy: Growth.
Though similar to the first piece, the individual is directly tied to the sprouted plant, symbolizing direct growth. Looking through the telescope represents seeing into a brighter and more optimistic future.

I. sprout

AUTUMN 2019
DIMENSIONS: 33 1/2" x 66 1/2"

First part of the trilogy: Growth.
Using an explosion of colors, I wanted to express overwhelming thoughts that humans get but more importantly, being able to grow from them. The whole purpose of this trilogy is to not have a specific meaning and let it be interpreted differently.

ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS

SPRING 2020
DIMENSIONS: 10" X 7"

In honor of Animal Crossing: New Horizons being released, I was inspired to incorporate the Nintendo Switch Lite into this piece. I wanted to include different aspects of the game like seasons changing, bug catching and fossil digging. I used watercolor brush pens to color this piece.

DICK GRAYSON

SUMMER 2019
DIMENSIONS: 11" x 8 1/2"

Based off of the fictional superhero Nightwing from the DC Universe. I explored comic shading and minimized the use colors to complete this piece.

SPRING 2021
DIMENSIONS: 1.5' X 2.5'

Turn in for an assignment. A relevant piece disucssing the current rise of the movement #StopAsianHate. I was inspired by my own experiences with racism being a first gerneration Asian-American. I focused on the label "yellow" that is forced upon the AAPI community and the western beauty standard (specifically mocking our eyes) that's applied.

hikouseki

SPRING 2020
DIMENSIONS: 2' X 4'

Inspired by the 1986 film created by Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, Castle in the Sky. I used acrylic for the base and gouache for the details. I also experimented with metallic paint to create a reflection illusion when in direct lighting.

SAILOR MOON REDRAW

SPRING 2020
DIMENSIONS: 7" X 10"

Inspired by the 2020 Sailor Moon Redraw Challenge. I explored using watercolor and acrylic paint in layers.
